Passivhaus is a low energy construction standard for buildings that far exceeds current UK Building regulations. There are many ways to build to this standard. We use the Beattie Passive Build System which is certified by the Passivhaus Institute in Germany and is patented in 42 countries.

The system creates a continuously insulated structural thermal envelope, free from thermal bridges, with very high thermal efficiency. The building envelope achieves very high standards of airtightness and incorporates triple glazed windows. A Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system is fitted to heat the building and provide continuous fresh air.

There are numerous benefits in building to Passivhaus standards. One great advantage is that as the property has low air loss and is very well insulated, the amount of additional heating required is minimal which reduces heating costs, depending on usage by up to 90% or more for typical building stock and over 75% compared to average new builds. This helps to reduce emissions which in turn directly contributes to protecting the environment. One of the other major advantages is the supply of continuous fresh air provided throughout the house by the MVHR system which creates a healthy and comfortable living environment.

Cubed Homes individually construct their properties on-site, using this Passivhaus Build System. We have chosen to finish the external envelope with a mix of brickwork and high performance cladding. We believe this improves aesthetics, ties in better with the local vernacular, and creates a quality product with longevity and ease of maintenance. The properties are finished internally to the same high quality and specification that buyers have come to expect from all our homes.

The properties are certified by Building Control and independently to Passivhaus Standards and come with a 10 year Buildzone Structural Warranty.
